Laser Procedures
Q: I have heard about laser skin treatments and wonder how effective they are?
A: Laser Cosmetic Therapy is a treatment that utilizes light energy to deliver therapeutic changes in the skin. Different types of laser light target different types of skin tissue. Laser treatments can effectively treat the following conditions:
- Facial redness due to broken capillaries and rosacea.
- Minor facial veins
- Leg veins smaller than 4mm
- Adult and teen acne
- Hyperpigmentations such as age/sun spots, acne scars, port-wine stains, and melasma (pregnancy mask)
- Pseudo-folliculitis (shaving bumps) of the neck and bikini-line
- Reduction of unwanted hair
Lasers can also benefit the skin by:
- Stimulating collagen growth to firm and tighten the skin
- Gently and precisely exfoliating the skins surface to reveal fresh evenly toned skin. Just one laser peel equals approximately three microdermabrasions!
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: The number of treatments needed varies by the type of procedure desired:
- Skin Rejuvenation and Laser Resurfacing procedures have cumulative effects. We typically recommend a package of 4 sessions spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart to achieve the best result with a maintenance procedure done every 6 months.
- Hyperpigmentation requires an average of 3 to 6 treatments spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart based on the individual's response to the treatment.
- Hair Removal requires an average 8 treatments spaced at least 4 weeks apart. Laser hair removal only works on hair that is actively growing and since only about 20% of our hair is in this "active" stage at any given time, repeat treatments are needed to achieve the permanent reduction of the unwanted hair.
- Leg Veins require an average of 1 to 3 treatments based on the individual's response to the treatment.
Q: Is it expensive?
A: Laser procedures are very affordable. We offer a 10% discount when you purchase a Complete Laser Facial, Skin Rejuvenation, or Hair removal package. We also offer three, six, or twelve month interest free financing through Care Credit. Below is a price range of some of our most popular services. Please call for specific prices.
- Laserlite Facials - $175.00 - $410.00
- Hair Removal - $95.00 - $700.00
- Acne Treatment - $1000.00 (series of 10 treatments + acne skin care products)
- Leg Veins - $200.00 - $350.00 per treatment
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Some areas are more sensitive than other; however, all the procedures are very tolerable. Our patients describe it as a slight rubber-band snapping sensation. For your added comfort we offer a numbing cream that can be applied 30 minutes prior to your appointment.
Q: How long does it take to heal?
A: One of the many benefits of laser procedures is there is literally NO downtime. Any redness, peeling, or puffiness that results from treatment usually resolves within one day to a week and any discoloration can safely be camouflaged with make-up.
Q: Will a doctor perform my treatment?
A: Yes, all of our physicians are board certified and members of The American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS).
Botox® & Fillers
The following information has been excerpted from the literature provided by the manufacturer
Q: How does Botox® work?
A: Low doses of Botox® Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, Botox Cosmetic enables them to relax.
Q: Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
A: The muscle activity that causes frown lines is reduced so you can still frown and look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.
Q: How long do the effects of Botox® last?
A: The effects of treatment with Botox® typically take up to two weeks to notice results and can last between 3-6 months. Longer lasting effects can be achieved with continuous maintenance treatment.
Q: What are the side effects?
A: The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding, and bruising. Q: What are Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus?
A: Both Ultra and Ultra Plus are injectable gels that instantly smoothes out wrinkles or folds that look like parentheses along the sides of your nose and mouth. It can also be used to fill thinning lips. The difference between Ultra and Ultra Plus is the viscosity of the gel. Ultra Plus is best used for filling the lips and deep creases. Ultra is best used on moderate folds or creases.
Q: How does it work?
A: The physician eases the syringe beneath the skin in the affected area injecting the Juvederm as the syringe is withdrawn. Juvederm is made from hyaluronic acid which is a natural complex sugar found in all living cells and one of the major components in the dermal layer of the skin. Hyaluronic acid retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density.
Q: How long does it last?
A: Juvederm lasts for up to six months or longer.
Q: What are the side effects?
A: The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising. These symptoms usually resolve within a couple of hours to a couple of days.
Q: Is it expensive?
A: Juvederm Ultra costs $500 per syringe; Juvederm Ultra Plus costs $550.00 per syringe. A 15% discount is given on the second syringe if two syringes are needed to complete the procedure. Typical number of syringes used range between 1 and 2 depending on depth of crease or desired plumpness of lips.
